Description
To make optimal use of the open kitchen in a square, somewhat small space - we chose not to install a dining table but a self-designed kitchen island with seating areas on either side for 4 to 6 people (2 up to 3 on each side).
A cheap variant - cut to size van OPMAATZAGEN.nl
The base is then wrapped with furniture foil and a plastic marble slab with cut-to-size plastic marble skirting boards (of the same material) as a top layer
DIY: kitchen island
Step 1 - design made
Step 2 - all measurements taken for the size of the kitchen island (taking into account seats and the opening of cupboard doors and dishwasher + ; walking space - herein +/- taking into account standard sizes)
Step 3 - drawn on a scale of 1:20
Step 4 - mdf sheet material + plastic marble slabs calculated and drawn & then ordered.
Step 5 - first the base was wrapped piece by piece with furniture foil.
Step 6 - base assembled as a letter H stretched in width. (Secured with wood glue and screws of course)
Step 7 - kitchen top placed on top and mounted as described in step 6.
Step 8 - plastic marble slab placed on top and cemented in place.
Step 9 - plastic marble skirting boards attached with mounting kit.
Step 10 - place in the desired location, place bar stools and enjoy!
A very simple + cheap way to experience the experience of a kitchen island!
