Make a mantelpiece conversion for an electric fireplace

We made a conversion for our electric fireplace. Very handy that all the necessary planks and the MDF lacquer support were custom made.

Making the conversion

The front parts are mitered so that all planks fit perfectly and fit together tightly. The whole was reinforced with the help of slats and wood glue. We assembled the bottom section first and then installed the top section. The mantelpiece is partly wallpapered and the lower part is painted with high-gloss white.

We have hung two lights at the top so that the mantelpiece is illuminated during the day. And in the evening you can turn on the fireplace for extra atmosphere. An open space has been left at the back of the mantelpiece for a socket. This can be achieved by making a grille on the side. Now just add a stove pipe and tiles at the bottom and the mantelpiece is perfect! Thanks OPMAATZAGEN.nl!
