Description

MDF Water-resistant Grey is a good choice when you want to make a piece of furniture in a grey or tinted colour. The board is coloured through and through with grey pigment. This means that the board is coloured to the core, but also that it is a blended grey. This is because you can still see the fibre structure in the board. An additional advantage is that MDF Grey V313 is water-resistant, making the board suitable for use in damp rooms.

Order MDF Water-resistant Grey online to size

Order your cut-to-size MDF water resistant boards easily online. MDF can be cut or milled to size in various shapes. The most popular shape here is a rectangle, but we also mill circles, ovals, hexagons or even parallelograms to size for you. Do you want a neat finish for your DIY project? Then choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

You choose MDF Water-resistant Grey when you want to create a decorative project in a grey or tinted colour. Finishing in the right colour takes little time because the board is produced water-resistant and only needs to be finished. Holes do not give a colour difference because the board is coloured to the core. You can use MDF Water-resistant Grey in damp environments, for example for a bathroom cabinet that you want to finish in a grey or tinted colour or when making kitchens.

MDF Water-resistant Grey: what is it?

MDF water-resistant is a broadly applicable board suitable for various interior panelling where the room is damp, such as in the bathroom and in the kitchen. It is also known as MDF V313. The V313 characteristic comes from the test for water resistance that the board material undergoes, called V313. It indicates that the board is not only water-resistant, but also water- and mould-resistant. Note that the board is not waterproof!

water-resistant MDF boards are composed of dried wood fibres and glue. These wood fibres are then compressed under high pressure and temperatures to form an MDF board. In the case of water-resistant MDF, a special, water-resistant type of glue is used. The wood fibres are mixed with a grey pigment, giving the board a grey colour right down to its core. However, this does not mean that the board is uniformly grey; the wood fibres give it a mottled appearance. Painting is still necessary to make the material uniformly opaque grey.

To enhance its water-resistant properties, the material is pressed under higher pressure than MDF blank. The extra hard pressing makes this type of wood easy to work with. If you want to work on a water-resistant 'blank sheet', go for MDF water-resistant. MDF waterproof V313 is not suitable for outdoor use.

MDF water-resistant is a structural board. This means that this board material still needs the necessary finishing to protect the material. This board is not suitable for outdoor applications.

Available thicknesses of MDF Water-resistant Grey

You can order water-resistant MDF boards online in various thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness in the product configurator. This ensures that the board material meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: .

Machining of MDF boards

MDF is very easy to work with: when milled and sawed, the material does not splinter. This material is coloured through-and-through. Both the top layer and the core are coloured grey. To do justice to the water-resistant properties of water-resistant MDF, it is important to seal the board properly. The top and bottom sides can be sealed with a (transparent) lacquer layer. The end edges deserve some extra attention. MDF fibres themselves have an absorbent effect. With water-resistant MDF this is less than with clear MDF, but it is still important to treat these with an edge sealer.

Specific uses of MDF Water-resistant Grey

MDF is the material of choice for furniture and interior applications. This can be a cabinet, a wall or an entire surround. With this water-resistant variant, the furniture is also suitable in the bathroom, garage or kitchen. Examples of projects include a bathroom cabinet, a kitchen cupboard, a bathroom partition or a window sill.

Alternatives to water-resistant MDF

Looking for a type of wood suitable for outdoor applications? Then go for MDF tricoya. If your board material will be used in dry conditions, you can go for the more budget-friendly option: MDF Natural. Or check out all our other MDF board materials here.
